Born and raised in Israel, Itzak Ehrlich graduated from Tel-Aviv University’s
High School in a special program emphasizing Physics and Math. He continued his
education in North America, obtaining a B.Eng. (Honors) Electrical Engineering
at McGill University in Montreal, Canada followed by an M.S. Electrical
Engineering – Computers at University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
While working on a graduate degree in electrical engineering - computers at USC
in 1980, HP recruited Itzak to help develop the company’s first personal
computers. During his 13-year tenure at HP, he specialized in the development
of intuitive and easy-to-use software and inter-application communications
& integration. This included one of the first object-based commercial
software, ‘HP New Wave’, which received multiple technical awards. Through this
work at HP, Itzak holds several patents still utilized by today's leading
software products.
A successful HP career on the leading edge of the computer industry coupled
with a lifetime commitment to learning give Itzak a rare perspective in today’s
software development world. He has been working with the latest technologies as
they evolved throughout the years – from the early days of DOS through all
versions of MS Windows, and through internet and web development up to the most
current DotNet and Java technologies.
During his years at HP, Itzak continued his higher education at Santa Clara
University (SCU) where he earned an MBA. In addition, he began his own company,
Dynamic Ventures. Within a short period, he sold thousands of his own
shrink-wrap software products.
This success prompted the decision to leave HP in 1993. However, the focus of
Dynamic Ventures quickly shifted from shrink-wrap applications to custom
software development and maintenance. This enabled him to take full advantage
of his knowledge of technology as well as his coaching & mentoring skills
and his ability to understand the real client needs developed through his MBA
studies and M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology. As a measure of his
dedication to staying current in technology he has accumulated numerous
certifications over the last few years from both Microsoft (MCSD, MCAD, MCDBA,
MCSE) and Sun Microsystems (SCJP, SCJD, SCWCD). On several occasions software
products developed by Itzak and his teams as custom software development
projects, resulted in the clients’ companies being acquired specifically to own
those software products.
This successful career in software consulting coupled with his skillful in
coaching and mentoring of other software engineer prompt Itzak to build and
manage effective offshore Software Development teams in Romania and Moldova,
from his Silicon Valley headquarter.
Itzak and his teams have consistently developed software that has been released
to market, most of the software products developed by the teams, used by the
customers of the client for whom the project was performed and marketed under
the clients' company names.
Today, Itzak lives in Cupertino, California, with his wife Myrna and their two
young adult children. He likes to listen to classical music, when he has time,
he likes to hike in open spaces and ride his bike. He uses Silicon Valley,
California, as a base for software development and maintenance activities that
take him throughout North America and overseas.
